Just after the turn of the 19th Century, the original building was constructed using brick and timber, and incorporating wide plank floors. These unique features remain as a focal point of the building today. The historic "ghost sign" still exists on the upper facade of the face of the building.

Today, the state of the art Van Buren Building offers office and warehouse spaces that have been completely renovated. The current owner purchased the building (formerly Steven's Fabrics) in 2006 and began construction shortly thereafter.
